Hi  I am Charlene and i am originally from Leicester, but i moved to London about 5  years ago. I wanted to gain more experience within my desired passion of autism and pursue a career within this profession. I attended Loughborough university where i gained a BA(HONS) in illustration and animation. This degree lead me onto wanting to achieve a masters in Art Therapy, unfortunately i required more experience within special needs before i could pursue this. This was where my career and passion in autism was realised. I ended up staying within autism where i worked in a variety of settings such as homes, communities, schools and nurseries. Here i supported adults and children to achieve the best they could be. I attended every training session i could find, as i just fell in love with learning more and more about how i could support people with autism.

About a year ago i supported an autistic boy on 1:1 basis in a inclusion primary school setting, where i started to create resources, behaviour plans and assessments that would track his progress. The results where unbelievable his behaviours lessened, his speech improved and he was motivated to learn. With this inspiration i wanted to support more children like him in various settings, that were not reaching their full potential due to lack of resources and staff who had limited experience in special needs.

So i created my educational resource business 'Sen Resource' through the support of the princes trust,  my business consists of implementing literacy/maths packs in levels 1-3 in schools, nurseries and home settings. These packs contain structured, tactile, short tasks that work towards independent learning. They are proven to be highly motivating, due to the rewards of three sensory toys achieved when the three tasks are completed. Seeing the progression made by the children who use these packs, pushes me everyday to do what i do. .

I currently work with Barnet Mencap now where i screen adults for autism. This is a 6 month pilot which is to lessen the likelihood of adults being referred to the Maudsley hospital in Barnet and being sent away without a diagnosis of autism.  I have created workshops in self-esteem, emotional boundaries, friendships and celebrating our differences these workshops have all proven very beneficial in supporting adults with autism.

We offer a variety of packages to suit you and your child's individualised needs. Which involves us coming into your setting to support you and your child in implementing a powerful structured resource package.

We are trained in: Safeguarding, Scerts (Enhancing Communication and Socioemotional Abilities of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder),  Team-Teach (positive restraint training), Autism Awareness, ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis), Makaton (Makaton is a language programme using signs and symbols to help people to communicate), Pecs (alternative communication intervention package for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and related developmental disabilities),  TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children), Downs Syndrome, Paediatric First Aid, Core Skills Childcare.
